Douglas Gibson ESA-SRB Conference 2015

Douglas Gibson

Dr Douglas Gibson is a Principal Investigator & Sir Henry Dale Fellow in the Centre for Inflammation Research at the University of Edinburgh. His research lab focusses on understanding the mechanisms that regulate endometrial function and how these can become dysregulated in common reproductive disorders that affect millions of women. Using clinical samples and innovative experimental models they investigate how signalling molecules called hormones can act within tissues to change the function of key cell types that are important for fertility and reproductive function. Press coverage of his research includes interviews for the Times and Sun and comment from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (The Times, ‘Hormone discovery ‘key to understanding IVF success for older women’). He is the recipient of the Wellcome-Beit Prize, Society for Reproduction and Fertility New Investigator Award and the Society for Endocrinology Early Career Prize lecture.
